Sculpting Spiders : A 5 Step Program

It´s Spider Time!

There are many good plastic sets of little animals and insects out there but when I needed one, I did not have any. So I had to test my craft skills on little spiders.

I’m building a monster army and the leader of this group happens to be a Big spider! I wanted to have some little offspring running around the base so I grabbed my supplies.

What you will need:

  • Greenstuff or modelling putty
  • Wire
  • Sculpting tool

Step one:

Cut three short wires for each of the little spiders. Then roll up tiny amount of green stuff.

Yes spiders have eight legs but that wont always look right on something so small made by hand.

Step Two:

Put the wires together and press the green stuff on the middle of this bundle

Step Three:

Moisten up your sculpting tool and sculpt the greenstuff to look like a spider. This is not hard because you don’t have to be precise. Just make the other end of the greenstuff little bit bigger so it resembles spiders rear and smooth out the surface!

Step Four:

Then cut the wires shorter and bend them with pliers. Now the spiders have legs!

Step Five:

Use glue to attach them to the base and paint! Easy!!

Wow, looks really cool and seems easy to produce. Need to find an excuse to use these somewhere.
