Conversion Corner: Mountain King

For those of you who don’t frequent the Privateer Press Miniature Painting and Modelling subforum you may have missed out on some of the amazing work being put out by one of our good friends Semdley. Today we are going to take a look at his Mountain King conversion.

So without further ado I present smedley’s amazing work!

[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Head[/col]
[col class=”span6″]Starting a new project, this time I’m looking to change up something I already thought was alright but just wanted to be a bit different. [/col]

[row class=”row-fluid”]
[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Arm[/col]
[col class=”span6″]Made some progress, almost got the left fist and shoulder/bicep/elbow area done. Just need to work on the wrist a bit, plus the forearm transition into the upper arm.[/col]

[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Arm 2[/col]
[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Arm 3[/col]

[row class=”row-fluid”]
[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Torso[/col]
[col class=”span6″] Worked on re-structuring the musculature on his left shoulder. Also, the gap around the upper and lower segments of his ‘mountain’ is took more time to address than I had budgeted for.

I’ve pretty much got the torso finished the way I want. I’ll undoubtedly be adding and tweaking things every here and there, but this is what I’m working with.[/col]

[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Leg[/col]
[col class=”span6″]Some pics for the lower body, not all that impressive but it gives an idea which direction the stance is going. My friend PG_Geist always tells me I need to show more WIP shots of what gets cut, where I cut it and how I reassemble it before it gets all covered up with putty, so here it is.[/col]

[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Body 2[/col]
[col class=”span6″]Here we have some final shots of the loin cloth, and rune stone belt that Smedly decided to go with for his conversion -Geist[/col]

[col class=”span6″]Mountain King Back[/col]
[col class=”span6″]And our final shot shows off some amazing work matching the existing sculpting style where the rocks along the spine protrude form the Mountain Kings Flesh[/col]

A Big Thanks to Smedley for letting us share the photos of this amazing project.  If you would like to discuss the conversion further, or see more photos and comments Smedley had while working on this conversion head over to the forums here!

    Very nice repose/putty work!
I particularly like the idea of the ‘stone spike crown’ and the overall ‘Come at me bro!’ pose…
Keep up the good work and cheers!
