This is another in the ‘How to Paint a Colour’ series, and is one of the easiest to master – blue.
I paint a ‘true’ blue in this video, and would be very useful for any Cygnar players. I cover alternate blues in the P3 range, and what you can use for shading and highlighting them. This is very close to the PP Studio method for Cygnar blue with some slight modifications.
Also covered is a simple method for shading and highlighting undulating cloth, without it looking contrived or forced.
All colours used in this video are Formula P3 by Privateer Press unless stated otherwise. In the case of a number inside a bracket (X) after a highlight or shade, this is the number of shades/highlights to paint, with each successive layer requiring more of the listed shade/highlight.
Base: Cygnar Blue Base
Shade 1: Exile Blue
Shade 2: Exile Blue/Battlefield Brown
Highlight 1: Cygnar Blue Highlight
Highlight 2: Menoth White Base (2)
Alternates: Any blues will always be easy to experiment with. Use oranges, browns, and darker blues. Highlights can include light greens, whites, light blues, and cream colours. Feel free to experiment as blue is a very versatile colour.
