Another in the ‘How to Paint a Colour’ series, this time covering gray. I also discuss some methodology when painting cloth that has a lot of overhang and an undulating surface.

All paints used in this video are Formula P3 unless stated otherwise. When a shade/highlight has a number in brackets (X) after it, this means you highlight/shade that many layers, with each subsequent layer having more of the shade/highlight colour mixed into the base colour.

Base: Greatcoat Grey
Shade 1: Umbral Umber
Shade 2: Thamar Black into the previous shade.
Highlight (2): Trollblood Highlight

Alternates: You can use the same shades and highlights by changing the base colour. Bastion Gray, Ironhull Gray, Thornwood Green can all be switched out easily.
If you want a lighter gray, Trollblood Highlight as a base, and then Cryx Bane Highlight, and Bastion Gray as shades.
Highlights and shades can be widely varied by using colours such as Cryx Bane Base, Sulfuric Yellow, and Menoth White Base.
